Online Safety for Parents

Learn how to protect your children from online threats so they can grow into the digital age with confidence and safety. This engaging and non technical presentation is delivered by Surrey and Sussex Police’s passionate Cyber Protect Officer Daniel Sykes.

The session will cover immediate threats as well as topics you can discuss with your children including:

  • Spotting malicious emails and scams
  • Disinformation on the internet
  • Parental Control settings
  • Dangers of "E-Celebrities" and "Influencers"
  • Keeping your children safe from harmful websites
  • Sextortion
  • Social Media security and privacy settings
  • Digital Footprints and the risks of AI
  • General Online Safety advice
  • Digital Stalking, Air Tags and Smart Tracking
  • Cyber Choices (preventing your child from committing Computer Misuse Offences)
  • All the free resources available

 Parents from all year groups are very welcome.

We recommend that parents of children who have their own phone or other internet-enabled device attend if possible.

The session will last for about 1 hour, refreshments are provided and staff will be on hand to support pre-schoolers/ babies if needed.
